TVR’s pixellated teaser image was released ahead of an official Le Mans announcement
British firm to announce involvement in motorsport project, with Le Mans sponsorship most likely
British sports car firm TVR is poised to make a return to Le Mans, and has released a teaser image ahead of an announcement tomorrow (Thursday).
The firm is currently developing its first road car model since it was bought by a consortium headed by Les Edgar four years ago, a 500bhp Griffith two-seater road car that will go into production in 2019.
TVR’s Twitter account, @TVR, tweeted a pixellated image of a Le Mans-style sportscar, captioned: “Back to the track after 13 years. To be revealed 05.04 #TVR.”

The pixelated image of a top-level Le Mans prototype suggests any TVR project announced tomorrow will be a branding or sponsorship deal with an existing sportscar team. The image bears a close resemblance to privateer Swiss team Rebellion Racing’s Gibson-powered R13 car.
This year’s FIA World Endurance Championship is a ‘super series’ that spans 2018 and 2019, and begins at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium on 5 May. A pre-season launch event will be held at Paul Ricard in France on Sunday (7 April).
TVR’s last works motorsport project was with the GT2 class Tuscan Speed Six 400R, which most recently ran in the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2005, fielded by the Racesport Peninsula squad.
